What are our meetings like?
Dudley & District Business Club meets the third Tuesday of each month, when we always enjoy lively debate over a hot supper for which a small charge is levied. At most monthly meetings there is an 'after supper' speaker, chosen for their topicality and relevance to the needs of small business people, and members of the Club are encouraged to speak about their business.
Meeting dates can be found here.
Subjects covered include financial issues, credit control and cash flow, public relations and marketing, crime prevention and legal requirements and Internet and e-commerce issues. All areas of vital importance to people in business, and those just starting out. We also enjoy a good relationship with our local MP's and MEP's who visit the Club from time to time. But its not all work at DDBC. We also enjoy ourselves and have fun! In recent years, numerous social events have been arranged where problems of the workplace can be forgotten for an evening. These have included charity evenings, skittles, barbecues, canal trips, and even Severn Valley Railway trips, where partners and guests are often welcome.
And of course, Club meetings provide a valuable opportunity for inter-trading between members, and for developing those vital business contacts still further. We average around 50 members present at each meeting! Each member benefits from every meeting - shouldn't you be among them?
Membership of Dudley & District Business Club is open to any small business operating in the Dudley area, we're not pedantic about local boundaries. If your business is situated just outside the metropolitan borough that does not preclude you from joining if most of your trading is done within the Borough of Dudley. As far as the membership profile is concerned, it embraces the whole spectrum of small businesses, from the self-employed to companies employing up to 20 people. Between them, they cover a variety of trades and professions, from contract cleaners to accountants, boat builders to solicitors, engineers to marketeers. You name it, we've probably got someone representing that trade or profession among the membership.
The club is of particular value to people who have just started up in business. The first few weeks and months of any new enterprise are the most vulnerable, and often the most lonely; that's when membership of DDBC can be most beneficial, when you can gain from the experiences of people who have already gone through what you are going through. |
